Compact/Policy Development Manager Wanted(Ref: CPDM/Oct 08)

Commencing Salary £30k – 33k inclusive (starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications) plus 5% pension contribution. F/T 35hrs per week.

Lambeth Voluntary Action Council (LVAC) is a membership organisation which supports, promotes and develops the work of voluntary and community groups in Lambeth. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the implementation of Lambeth’s Compact and its Action Plan to improve partnership working between Lambeth’s Voluntary/Community Sector, Lambeth Council, Lambeth Primary Care Trust and Lambeth’s Local Strategic Partnership. The ability to develop/influence and shape a variety of policies across a whole range of areas is essential.

This is a developing partnership post and the post-holder will need to be able to adapt/develop and grow in an environment of changing work plans and priorities.

The successful candidate is likely to have:
• At least 2 years experience of working on policy/strategic issues in either the voluntary/community sector or statutory sector
• Understanding of statutory and voluntary sector culture
• Practical understanding and effective track record of inter-agency partnership working and policy development work
• Successful project development/implementation skills
• Proven negotiation skills
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills with a wide range of audiences

LVAC runs a yearly training programme tailored to meet the needs of Lambeth's Voluntary and Community Sector. We've had a successful start to LVAC's 08/ 09 Training Programme with the first five courses being fully booked and receiving great feedback. The next few courses on the programme are filling up fast. We still have space on the following courses coming up in Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb:
